Behavior Management
One of our goals at ABR is to help children develop a positive
self-image. We strive to encourage children to be self-directed and to
express self-control as well as express feelings. It is very important
that children have the opportunity to build self-esteem. Therefore, such
practices that may shame a child are not to be used.
Young children, due to their development age, are not capable of
understanding the actions of their behavior. Therefore, children are
encouraged to make wise choices. This can be done through supervision,
gentle guidance and redirection. We practice redirection as opposed to
time out, although there may be situations where a child is removed from
a group or center to help to be redirected. We hope to have children
learn to identify their feelings and express themselves.
